$24.99

Host your own murder mystery party with this digital kit! "The Northeast Passage" is a post-WWII themed blackmail and murder mystery party suitable for 15 to 20 guests, played across three acts:

The year is 1948. The Second World War has come to an end, but tensions remain high. The impending threat of communism lingers on the horizon, and although the economy is on the upswing, the cessation of hostilities has caused priorities to shift. One of those changes is the supremacy of the railroads. Things have been on the decline for decades, with the depression and world wars helping to drive the creation of national infrastructure capable of supporting the booming trend toward automobiles and aircraft.

Our story follows one of the railroads struggling under this new regime of public opinion—a small venture run by Lionel Eddington, Chief Executive of a rail company that has certainly seen better days. Thus far, he has managed to stave off offers to be bought into a larger rail line, but his small operation in the northeast of America can’t hope to hold out much longer under these conditions. In a bid to save his company, Lionel has followed the advice of his wife and shifted his focus to what he hopes might be a more sustainable industry—a luxurious passenger line that runs from Pennsylvania up to Maine, an expensive gamble that he hopes will evoke the exotic mystique of the Orient Express to an audience of American elite. Its name—The Northeast Passage.

But tragedy bubbles just under the surface. In this era of political intrigue, suspicion and secrets threaten to tear apart everyone involved in the project. A web of blackmail hangs across the entire rail line, reaching from its lowliest steward all the way to the head of the local crime syndicate. No one is safe, and everyone suspects their neighbor. In an effort to find some kind of resolution, Lionel invites the most important players to a ride on The Northeast Passage, but in the darkness of the New England mountainside, with the train trapped in place by snow, disaster strikes. Now it’s up to the riders to determine who is at the heart of the dastardly crime—and who has been playing them all like pawns since long before they stepped aboard.
