OVERVIEW
Vincent comes upon the listener still practicing with their powers, despite it being late at night. He acknowledges that it’s important to them to gain mastery over their abilities, and he praises their progress so far, but before he can continue, they ask to show him what they’ve been practicing. He agrees. They proceed to take all the electricity out of the power lines in the backyard, blacking out the lights before releasing it. The overload causes one of the bulbs to shatter, and the listener gets upset at their lack of control. Vincent reassures them that they' are doing great, and that some incidents are bound to happen, but he also mentions that a likely factor in their lost control is exhaustion. The listener has been pushing themselves hard, and Vincent insists they get some sleep. He guides them to their bedroom.
He tucks them into bed, and laments that he can’t cuddle with them because he will soon have a Clan meeting to attend, but he promises to stay with them in the meantime. The listener asks that Vincent speak to them to help them get to sleep. He affirms that he cares about them very much, including their wellbeing, and that he wants them to get rest and show themselves patience and kindness.
The listener asks about the Clan meeting, which Vincent initially avoids, believing the topics are too heavy, but at the listener’s insistence he discusses them briefly:" namely that, on Halloween, a situation occurred in which two humans were left mortally wounded. Sam Turned one of them, not realizing that there were two of them. He couldn’t Turn the second one without dying in the process; the act of Turning takes a lot out of a Vampire. The newly Turned human, Frederick, then Turned their friend before Sam could stop him, leaving Sam with two newborns to attend to and the Clan with two new members. He promises to provide the listener with more details the next day, after the meeting.
He notes that the listener looks cute, and that he loves seeing them like this: at peace, relaxed, calm, and content. He continues to help ease the listener to sleep and hums a song as they fade out.
TRIVIA
The events of Halloween 2020, in which Sam briefly encountered Quinn and became a Maker as a result, are explained in more detail here, from the perspective of the rest of the Clan.
The listener asks Vincent about the events of his Turning for the first time, but he doesn’t answer them, feeling it’s too intense of a story given he’s trying to help the listener get to sleep.
